I have never used Budget before - typically I go with the "we'll pick you up" guys. But when I tried to rent a car one-direction... then wait two weeks and get a different one-way rental to drive back, I was shocked at what they wanted to charge. I went to Budget and was able to get a rental car and KEEP IT FOR THE FULL TWO WEEK... and saved $300 in the process from what those other guys wanted to charge for me for using a car only two days. And they're all using the same cars - new vehicles. It's a no brainer for me now, and Budget will be my first call for all future car rentals.
Worst rental experience ever! I rented an intermediate size car from them and got charged $716.00... Which on the contrary lives up to their name. Not only that, but after 2 weeks they are still holding on to $120 of my money in a temporary authorization. So all together I've been charged ALMOST $1000 from this company just for a 2 week rental! I've called the Virginia Beach location and the customer service number, and dealing with both departments has been so frustrating. After at least receiving a refund on $70 worth of late fees, i was basically told that im stuck with the $60 "admin fee" and will have to wait 50 days for them to release the $120 that they have pending.
Loved my experience, it was super easy to book online and select the vehicle i wanted, the price was by far the best compared to the competition and the service agent at the counter was super friendly and personable, he answered all of my questions. On top of it all my vehicle was almost brand new, and EXACTLY what i had requested online. Loved this location, will absolutely use again for future rentals
I've been using this place for a couple years and today will be the last with the customer service I just received. I called last week for a certain vehicle and its fine the vehicle is not available but give me attitude!
I would give zero stars if I could. This is the worst experience we have EVER had renting vehicles. I made reservations for two 12 passenger vans FOUR months in advance for a trip to take students from Illinois to Colorado. I called and verified the reservations three separate times leading up to the trip. THE NIGHT BEFORE leaving, A Rep from Budget called me and said "Sorry your vans did not arrive. He also told me that he was being inconvenienced too, having to miss church to stay late and wait for the vans. What is the point of making a reservation?????
My students and families showed up the next day for the trip and we had no vehicles. Then after several attempts of trying to get ahold of Budget, I finally got through and the Rep told me the Vans wouldn't be delivered until THE FOLLOWING DAY AT CLOSING TIME. I had to find completely different arrangements WITHOUT AN APOLOGY. I sent an email to customer service and never heard anything in return. The worst customer service I have ever experienced with a business. I will not stop telling people how terrible it was. I can not believe how terrible this situation was handled and I will never refer anyone to Budget. It is unfortunate that they didn't try to make any alternatives. Now I am planning the same Camping trip and I will drive the extra hour into chicago to pick up vans from another rental place JUST TO AVOID THE HASSLE WITH BUDGET.
