This is a fantastic Museum. Anybody who complains about the price is stuck in 1950 and has no clue what goes on at a museum behind the scenes. You can bring a family of four here and spend five hours for less than 25 dollars. Also, they keep safe - and allow access to - tens of thousands of preserved plants/animals/remains. The parking is the best I've ever experienced for a museum.
The meuseum and grounds are wonderful wish I could say same about staff. I called about upcoming evemt I was told they didn't know anything even though it was on the news the night before. Had a friend buy tickets online then told I couldn't use because I didn't have receipt. Wont be buying a membership here . TRAIN YOUR STAFF....
My daughter likes going here. The fake rainforest is nice when it looks like it's raining. The top floor is nice to see alive reptiles. There's a little house area for kids to go in, seems hidden behind a door by the Indian area if I remember right.
There are three floors to the Museum. The bottom floor has all sorts of ancient animals and lots of dinosaurs, T-Rex and Triceratops. The middle floor has all kinds of information about the local geology of Illinois. The top floor has all sorts of information about the oak hickory Forest, Wetland, and prairie ecosystems in Illinois. My two year old son has been here a dozen times and loves it.
A great place to bring kids to see dino bones! Much cheaper than the Field, and not so big they can't get through all (or at least most) of it.
